Welcome to the website of the Animal Pyramid Foundation (Stichting Dierenpiramide)

The Animal Pyramid Foundation was founded by Anne van Lith on 3 March 1993. Its objective is to provide shelter, care and protection to pets throughout the Netherlands, as well as to foster those objectives. During its years of existence, the Animal Pyramid Foundation also became specialised in providing shelter for animals that cannot find shelter anywhere else. These animals receive individually tailored support, which focuses on respecting each animal’s intrinsic value. In addition to its small pet animals programme, the Animal Pyramid Foundation has another project called “A Safe Haven,” which provides shelter for horses and is widely supported by major animal welfare organisations.
The Foundation’s activities are supported by volunteers and other organisations, both practically and financially. In 1998, the Animal Pyramid Foundation moved from Waalwijk to Gasselternijveenschemond and in 2006, Anne van Lith received the national Lemstra Life Achievement Award. The Foundation is currently located in Stadskanaal and now also has an auxiliary branch where a small number of farm animals are sheltered.
